Vengeance AM David McKee Heading to Compete in Florida Bowl Riders Cup
We caught up with David for a few questions before he heads down to Florida to compete in the Pro division of this weekend's Florida Bowl Riders Cup
How would you compare the competition in the bowl riders cup events versus other events you compete in?
Imagine a bunch of people skating as fast as they can in a big bowl all trying to do the best trick at the same time. It is pretty much chaos, you have to land your trick and make sure no one runs into you.
How do you think the Florida event will be different from the Oregon cup event?
I haven't skated the Florida parks yet but from what I hear Florida's bowls are mellow compared to Oregon, Oregon has got some gnarly stuff up there. So I imagine the tricks will be more technical in Florida.
What are your expecations for this event?
I don't even know, I hope the weather is warm, it was kind of warm when I was there for the Surf Expo. I am aiming for top 10.

What will it take for a top 10 finish in the pro division?
A lot of hard work, consistency, creative tricks and hope the judges like the creative stuff. I got this trick I have been working on my friend Nick calls the dust buster it is a backside sweeper with a bunch of weird board variels.
What would are your biggest strengths and weaknesses in an event like this?
I have never skated the parks before so everything is going to be new to me. My girlfriend also tells me at contests at foreign parks sometimes I take it easy instead of charging everything but I plan on charging everything in Florida. Lately I have been pretty consistent at contests though and land everything first try, I am hoping I can do that in Florida.
What do you do to prepare for this event?
Skating parks like Burnside and Marginal Way will make you prepared for anything. I have also been skating my local park, Mill Creek a lot and just trying to learn as many new tricks as I can before the event. Pool King Skateboards and Khiro Bushings sent me a bunch of stuff so I will be well prepared for the contest as well.
How do you handle the pressure of competiting in the event?
I figure if I screw up everyone will turn their eyes to someone like Rune Glifberg or Benji Galloway but I am hoping that doesn't happen.
Being your first time at the Florida cup, what do you want to take away from the experience?
Competing against the top name pros is an honor just that alone is a good experience.
